A new study of IDC shows that one third of PCs of individuals and companies are infected with malware for the use of unauthorized software in 2013. Nick Psyhogeos, vice president of Microsoft's OEM division, said that the pirated software manufacturers are too smart, and they make consumers believe that the pirated software is good enough. Tim Cranton, Associate General Counsel for Microsoft, told a reporter that Microsoft has changed its anti-piracy strategy in China. In the past, Microsoft used to take dealers selling pirated Windows operating systems to court immediately after getting sufficient evidences, but now, the company would like to hold talks with dealers first, in order to solve problems together and protect consumers, and legal action is the last measure Microsoft would like to take. In December 2012, Microsoft launched a themed education campaign with the theme of "Keep it Real" to introduce the safety risks brought by the pirated software, and the campaign will be carried out in more than 40 cities in mainland China. |
