Microsoft recently launched the "Keep it Real" publicity campaign in Shanghai. Tim Cranton, Associate General Counsel for Microsoft, said that Shanghai is one of the most important, the most vigorous PC markets in China, and the publicity campaign aims at helping local consumers and business users learn about the safety risks brought by the pirated software. Microsoft has identified 13 PC resellers based in Shanghai that it claims have been distributing counterfeit versions of its Windows OS, and the company could take legal action against them if a settlement isn't reached. In October 2012, Microsoft stopped selling the Windows OS in the form of storage medium in China, and all of the Windows OSs sold in the form of disc or U-disc are counterfeited. |
